Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) – Preparations

EXAM NAME (EXAM PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS)

Important Notice

Any patient receiving an MRI will be asked to remove any metal from body prior to examination; (this includes but is not limited to jewelry, hair pins, wigs, etc.). Patient will be provided cotton scrubs to change into for the examination. Patient may wear their own form of clothing if the clothing is all cotton and does not have any metal (zippers, buttons, snaps, draw string rings, etc.).

Instructions: Any MRI ordered with IV contrast will need a recent BUN/CREATINE only if you are above 55 years old or diabetic.

Instructions: Clear liquid diet the evening before. The patient should have nothing to eat or drink after midnight before the exam. Patient may take medications with small amounts of water.

Important Note:Ā All other tests do not require a preparation. In the event you have an exam that is not listed above our staff will advise you if it requires a preparation.
