The patient should not have any barium contrast studies 24 hours prior to the exam. |

Patients should hold blood pressure medicine the day of the test. |

Gastric Emptying Study |
Patient should have nothing to eat or drink 8 hours prior to the exam. No Propulsid or other gastric motility medications should be taken three days prior to the exam. All patients must bring a raw egg and 2 slices of bread with them the day of the exam. |
Gastric Mucosa Imaging |
The patient should have nothing to eat or drink eight hours prior to the exam. |
Hepatobiliary Imaging |
The patient should have nothing to eat or drink four hours prior to the exam. As well, the patient should not have any barium studies 24 hours prior to the exam. |
Lasix Renal Scan |
Patients should hold lasix on the day of the test if lasix is taken daily. |
Liver Spleen Imaging with and Without Flow |
The patient should have no barium contrast 24 hours prior to the exam. |
Myocardial Stress Test |
The patient should have nothing to eat or drink for 8 hours. No blood pressure medicines the day of the exam. No nitrates the day of the exam. Wear comfortable clothes the day of the exam. |
Thyroid Scan (Technetium Scan) |
The patient should have nothing to eat or drink 2 hours prior to exam. |
Thyroid Scan with Uptake I123 |
The patient should have nothing to eat or drink 2 hours prior to exam. Patient should be off thyroid meds, contact your ordering physician for details. |
Thyroid Scan with Uptake I131 |
The patient should have nothing to eat or drink 2 hours prior to exam. |
Thyroid Therapy |
The patient should have nothing to eat or drink 2 hours prior to exam. |
VQ Scan/Lung Scan |
The patient should have had a recent chest x-ray within the last eight hours of the scan when testing for PE. |
Whole Body |
AM appointment-Nothing to eat or drink after midnight
PM appointment-Nothing to eat of drink 4 hours prior to the exam |
