As an additional service DIS also has the services of a pathology group, who are generally present at the time of biopsies. Having the pathologist on-site at the time of a biopsy assures the proper diagnostic sample can be obtained minimizing patient discomfort and the likelihood of a repeat biopsy. In most cases an immediate diagnosis can be made prior to the patient leaving, alleviating the anxiety of patients waiting days to hear the results.
